De Saison
Privacy policy
Updated 1 October 2026 (optional diagnostics)
In short: by default De Saison collects no data about you. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. You can choose to share anonymous diagnostics.
Who we are
De Saison is an app designed and published by Thomas Levy, as a personal project. For any question about this policy or your data, write to contact@desaison.app.
What stays on your device
- Your settings (country, units, notifications, foods you follow with the bell) and the food of the day are stored only on your device. They are shared with the app’s widgets on that same device. Deleting the app erases them.
- The camera and your photos are used only to recognise a fruit or vegetable. The analysis runs on your device; images are neither saved nor sent. Choosing a photo goes through Apple’s picker, so the app only sees the photo you choose.
- Recipes are written by Apple Intelligence on your device, from the app’s own data (the chosen food, the month, your preferences). De Saison sends nothing anywhere to do this.
- Notifications are scheduled locally by the app; no server sends them to you.
- Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight: the app adds its list of fruit and vegetables to your device’s search. That index stays on your device.
What goes over the internet
To show the “Read on Wikipedia” link, the app asks Wikidata, a Wikimedia Foundation service, for the article about the food on screen, in your language. The request only contains the food’s public identifier and the language; as with any connection, Wikimedia receives your IP address. Opening the article shows Wikipedia. These services have their own privacy policy.
Diagnostics (optional)
In Settings › Improve De Saison you can turn on “Share crash reports and usage”. It stays off until you do. Once it is on, the app sends to Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Google Analytics):
- crash reports: where in the code the app stopped, the device model, and the iOS and app versions;
- usage statistics: the foods you open, the recipes written (food and meal) and the foods identified, with a random installation identifier.
This data is not linked to your identity and is not used for advertising or tracking across apps: the device’s advertising identifier is never collected. Nothing you type, no photos and no location are sent. Turning the option off stops sending, deletes reports not sent yet and resets the installation identifier. Google processes this data under the Firebase terms.
Apple
The app is distributed through the App Store. Apple may share anonymous statistics and crash reports with the developer if you allowed it in your device’s settings. This data does not identify you.
This website
desaison.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party fonts or scripts. Like any website, the host keeps technical logs (IP address, page requested, date) to run and secure the service.
Children
The app collects no data and is suitable for all ages.
Your rights
Without diagnostics no personal data is collected, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Diagnostics are not linked to your identity; turning them off resets their identifier. You can erase the local data at any time by deleting the app. For any question, write to contact@desaison.app.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its update date.
